Webinar: Farm Animal Models for Biomedical Research; Sheep and Pig Surgical Models in Trauma and Transplantation

Large-animal models play a critical role in translational biomedical research in the fields of trauma surgery and transplantation. Farm animals such as sheep and pigs are widely used due to their physiological, anatomical, and hemodynamic similarities to humans. Despite their use, the selection, standardization, and ethical justification of sheep and pig surgical models remain challenging. This talk address the use of sheep in orthopedic and trauma surgery and pigs in organ transplantation as well as translational examples for the use.
