The ZEBET database is mainly designed to support the examination of the imperative nature of animal experiments by providing information on possible alternative methods. 

Sabre offers ten recommendations and a strategy.They define these reccomendations (the 10Rs+) as RESPOND, REPLICATE, REGISTER, REPORT, RECORD, REVIEW, REGULATE, REAPPRAISE, RATIONALISE, REINVENT, REPRESENT. Animal Free Research UK funds research that directly impacts the replacement of animals in biomedical research. Their aim is the replacement of animals in fundamental biomedical research as well as proving that valuable human-relevant science can take place with the use of non-animal methods.

The Guide has specifically been developed to support untrained database users in finding high quality information on relevant alternative strategies and methods to animal experiments from the wide range of sources available on the web. The Guide provides examples of search procedures, suggested search terms and user guidance.  Target users are scientists, national authorities involved in animal protection and ethical committees verifying that all possible alternatives have been considered before conducting animal experiments.

ALTEX publishes original articles, short communications, and reviews, as well as news and comments, meeting reports, and book reviews. Animal experiments are defined by the editors as all experimental procedures involving the use of animals in testing, research, and education, or to obtain tissues, organs, and other animal derived products that may cause pain or distress to animals..

Animal Welfare  is an international scientific and technical journal. It publishes the results of peer-reviewed scientific research, technical studies and reviews relating to the welfare of kept animals (eg on farms, in laboratories, zoos and as companions) and of those in the wild whose welfare is compromised by human activities.
