A Non-Animal Technologies Roadmap for the UK

This roadmap, vision and strategy for non-animal technologies in the UK has been drawn up by Innovate UK, the National Centre for the Replacement Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Medical Research Council, and has been published on their behalf by Innovate UK. It is intended to guide the efforts of all those working in this area. The issues outlined and the recommendations have come out of extensive discussions between the six organisations that are endorsing the roadmap and with many other key stakeholders.

The 10Rs Strategy-Sabre Research UK Strategy

Sabre offers ten recommendations and a strategy.They define these reccomendations (the 10Rs+) as RESPOND, REPLICATE, REGISTER, REPORT, RECORD, REVIEW, REGULATE, REAPPRAISE, RATIONALISE, REINVENT, REPRESENT. Animal Free Research UK funds research that directly impacts the replacement of animals in biomedical research. Their aim is the replacement of animals in fundamental biomedical research as well as proving that valuable human-relevant science can take place with the use of non-animal methods.

Alternatives to laboratory Animals (ATLA)

ATLA is published by  FRAME, and has been a key scientific journal in the field of laboratory animal alternatives for more than 30 years. Circulated worldwide, ATLA is distributed to individuals, organisations and institutions. It covers the  latest research relating to alternatives to the use of laboratory animals.

Animal Welfare  is an international scientific and technical journal. It publishes the results of peer-reviewed scientific research, technical studies and reviews relating to the welfare of kept animals (eg on farms, in laboratories, zoos and as companions) and of those in the wild whose welfare is compromised by human activities.
