ATLA is published by  FRAME, and has been a key scientific journal in the field of laboratory animal alternatives for more than 30 years. Circulated worldwide, ATLA is distributed to individuals, organisations and institutions. It covers the  latest research relating to alternatives to the use of laboratory animals.

ALTEX publishes original articles, short communications, and reviews, as well as news and comments, meeting reports, and book reviews. Animal experiments are defined by the editors as all experimental procedures involving the use of animals in testing, research, and education, or to obtain tissues, organs, and other animal derived products that may cause pain or distress to animals..

Animal Welfare  is an international scientific and technical journal. It publishes the results of peer-reviewed scientific research, technical studies and reviews relating to the welfare of kept animals (eg on farms, in laboratories, zoos and as companions) and of those in the wild whose welfare is compromised by human activities.

This page provides access to searchable, hypertext listings of inbred strains of mice and inbred strains of rats. Both sets of information were provided by Dr. Michael FW Festing (MRC Toxicology Unit) and were converted for Web presentation by the Mouse Genome Informatics Group at The Jackson Laboratory.

A key aim of the Group is to encourage people to take account of the whole lifetime experience of laboratory rodents, ensuring that every potential impact on their wellbeing has been reviewed and refined.
