The EPS represents psychologists who work in academia, industry and the health service. The EPS supports research efforts directed towards finding new treatments for psychiatric disorders such as depression, schizophrenia and dementia. Research using animals has made, and continues to make, a vital contribution to this research.

Matlab is one of the most widely used computer programming languages in research. For psychologists and neuroscientists it is a versatile and increasingly useful tool for controlling advanced experiments and analyzing complex datasets, no matter whether you are interested in programming sensory detection or discrimination stimuli, measuring behavioral reaction times, quantifying movement kinematics (e.g. eye tracking), analyzing electrophysiological time series (e.g. EMG, EEG), developing neural models, conducting statistical tests, or visualizing brain imaging data (e.g. fMRI, MEG), etc.

ALTBIB is a search tool that retrieves PubMed citations on alternatives to the use of live vertebrates in biomedical research and testing. It includes citations from published articles, books, book chapters, and technical reports. It also provides links to news sources and additional resources on alternatives to animal testing.

A wide variety of topics are covered, including biologics and vaccines, carcinogenesis, cytotoxicity, ecotoxicity, genotoxicity, hepatic/renal toxicity, immunotoxicity/immunology, neurotoxicity, ocular toxicity, pharmacokinetic/mechanistic studies, pyrogenicity, pulmonary toxicity, quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR), reproductive and developmental toxicity, skin toxicity, and animal welfare.

Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science (JAAWS) is a US journal that publishes articles, commentaries, and brief research reports on methods of experimentation, husbandry and care that demonstrably enhance the welfare of all nonhuman animals.

The official journal of the Institute of Animal Technology and of the European Federation of Animal Technologists (EFAT).Animal Technology and Welfare aims to be the medium for animal technologists and all those concerned with the care and welfare of animals used for research purposes to communicate ‘best practice. ATW especially aims to promote and develop the 3Rs particularly in respect of Refinement.

More importantly, ATW promotes the generally accepted ‘4th R’, Responsibility. The responsibility that all animal technologists have in ensuring dissemination of ‘best practice’ to every institution using animals in research. ATW enjoys a unique position as the scientific publication for the leading organisations (IAT and EFAT) for the welfare of animals in research.

The mission of the Centre is to provide leadership in matters relevant to animal welfare, focusing on the appropriate and humane care, husbandry, and management of animals.

NORINA is an English-language database containing information on over 3,500 audiovisual aids that may be used as alternatives or supplements to the use of animals in education and training, including dissection alternatives, at all levels from Junior School to University.  The information in the database has been collected from 1991 onwards.
