The South Cambridge rodent facility level 2 houses mice. It has an SPF status making it suitable for studies requiring a high health status. Level 2 is the main experimental floor within the South Cambridge rodent facility and is suitable for longer studies.

There is a broad range of research that takes place at this facility including the following:

  • Containment level 3 (CL3) room including Iso cages
  • Digital ventilated cages
  • Specialist Containment Level 2 (CL2) Surgical space
  • CL2 space including animal holding space, procedural space, behaviour space and prion room
  • Irradiator
  • Heat cabinets (owned by DMC group)
  • DigiGait (owned by Surgery)
  • Behaviour rooms with behavioural equipment (equipment owned by Neuroscience)
  • ERG/Dark adaption cabinet
  • Choice boxes (owned by Neuroscience/Metabolic Science)
  • IVIS imaging equipment (owned by Cancer Research)
  • Echo (owned by Medicine)
  • Echo-MRI (owned by DMC group)
  • Night Owl (owned by Surgery)
